attack of the killer emoticons!!!!

in AIM, we get the typical 9 or 10 emoticons. and then as one moves up the scale of cooler interfaces, the number of emoticons grows at exponential rates! now granted i enjoy using emoticons, mostly because they are the only way to express the tone of a conversation. for example, if you are joking, you done add **in a jokingly manner** to the end of the comment, rather just add a face :-P now the really cool faces i have to admit are the ones that make sounds. they come when you least expect it, and then they always just make me laugh and smile. nevertheless, back to the reason for posting today. so when you realize that you and somebody else use the same rarish interface....it all hits the fan and then you can really have an assault with faces.

well off to borders to spend more money!!!

beauty and the.....geek?

you all know the show beauty and the geek, a fantastic show i must point out. however, on the website for it, there is this little test to determine if you are a geek or not. me--definitly a geek. this resulted in them encouraging me to watch the show. next, i went on an attempt to be not a geek (probably a very geekish thing to do) and i failed miserably! i conclude that they just call all of their viewers geeks in a quest to promote ratings.

nevertheless, i was perturbed by some of the questions/answers they had. for example, they wondered what the one ting you would never leave the house without was: a cell phone, an ipod, sunglasses, or the dungeon master's guide. i pondered this question for minute, and the one thing i never leave home without: my flashdrive, yes i never leave home without all my files in the off chance that i might just have to look up the sequence of the neurokinin neuropeptide for the cow! where does this put me on that geekyness continumm?

speaking of cows...why are they called cows. you drive down the road and see a group of cattle, you instinctly refer to them as cows despite a cow is a female. chickens have a unisex name. so do sheep, horses, pigs, everything but cows! granted there is the term cattle, but you dont say you have one cattle rather you call that a cow. i really do feel sorry for those bulls!!!

your paper got shorter!

falling short, not reaching an end....oddly is one of the best feelings ever. i actually dropped a class this week. the first class of my college life at that! it is fantastic to know that i can still graduate this summer, not take this class, and just have everything working in my favour. for once i finally feel at piece. oh, and I CAN HAVE A CAT next year....yippie!!! i guess being late and falling short works out in the end ;-)

Finally content with a past I regret

if everything turns out wrong, is it possible that you still did everything right? outside influences are extreme, unavoidable, unpredictable in most cases. what happens after these influences infect that determines the outcome. you can look at their aftermath and assess that. you can look at the source and assess that. you can look at their future and assess that. when is it safe to stop trying. when is it safe to stop caring. is it safe.

there can only be so much damage in a day. there can only be so much damage you can take. though very different numbers, once one is exceeded, there is no turning back. you cant keep looking at the past and focusing on that. true. you cant keep looking in the future and ignore everything else. right. however, you cant ignore everything and think about right now. the past is the past. history books tell us that. the future we can still change, and even what happens now is still in our hands. how much control are we going to take. you can set up fences and hope nobody breaks them, you can set up boundaries and hope nobody crosses them. but what happens when they are crossed and broken. what happens when you lose control. what happens.

you can follow your gut or you can do what others tell you. you can change who you are or stay true to yourself. you can forget about the lapses and continue as if nothing happened. you can give up. which is right. which will be ideal. which will make you happy. isnt that what it is really all about. making you happy. are you happy.

you have control of the situation. you can make it what you want. the hard part is determining what you want. back to above. you can forget. you can move on. you can forgive. why does it always seem that forgetting and forgiving are the easiest. why are you inclined to move on. why go for the challenge.

its what you want.

it makes you happiest.

move on.

jump in head first in the shallow end

do you ever wonder why people try to do rediculous things that will just turn out badly? if you have no interest in something or no desire to be sucessful, then just dont do it. there has been a craze lately to get involved, and not in clubs, but get involved for experience; however, who monitors those people? does it seem fair that one individual can be more successful and do less work than you can? say you are smarter than them. say you are more capable at doing the work they are doing, but you have different work to do, you have serious work, and theirs is just imitation. they finish, you dont. does that mean that they are better/more successful than you? it seems like that to others, and granted there are very few people that can tell the difference, yet those people dont take the final look. furthermore, what if you do all their work for them, and they still get the credit. what if you do all their work they cant, and while they are doing something they can do, they sit there distracting you, preventing you from getting your own project done. is this fair? why does this exist? why are people so low as to take the success of one person, and the will and ambition of that person, and manipulate them to demise. tear them apart. bring them down. how does it always end like this?

SAS and pizzaz

do you ever wonder why you are taught one thing, when all practicle applications require another? i started work just the other day, and i am sure to spend the next few weeks just learning the needed code before i can run my queries. so why not teach the most practicle method in class. it would just make sense.

on a side note, i would like to point out that i am not the one that distracts, yet i am always distracted. so heather and h2o....STOP BEING SO DISTRACTING.

back to the point. i am just about completly settled into this apartment, have a coolio roomate, and all is well. classes, however, might not be so well. soon we will know!

les miserables

ever feel like that? like nothing is going as planned, as if everything that is right at the end of your grasp, but just too far to pull in.
